Indian rummy rules: 13-card points, pool and deals
A rules page, not a money page. The objective is to meld 13 cards into valid sequences and sets and to minimise points on the cards you cannot meld.
The deck and the deal
Two decks, including two printed jokers. Each player gets 13 cards. A pure sequence is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, with no joker. A set is three or four cards of the same rank, in different suits.
Points
- Ace and face cards: 10 points each.
- Number cards 2–9: face value.
- Jokers: 0 points when used in a meld.
- An unmelded high card can decide the hand.
Three formats
Points rummy: one hand, instant settlement. Pool rummy: a fixed entry pool; players drop out when they reach the point limit. Deals rummy: a fixed number of deals, lowest total wins.
What this page does not do
It does not teach a betting strategy or promise winnings. If you play a cash format, read the operator’s current terms and the India status page first.
